What is Open Space?
Open Space is a round table discussion format that gives voice to the issues most important to those participating in a conference or gathering. This marketplace type forum is at its heart exactly that—an open space for people to gather and discuss issues, working toward recommendations for action to be shared with all conference registrants.

The Open Space session at this year’s Indian Education Summit is an opportunity for you to get together with others who have similar interests and share your ideas, concerns, suggestions, etc. Each table might have a different topic, or multiple tables could be focused on the same topic—it’s up to you.

The Process
From 3:30-3:45, we will all gather in the Sheridan Room to generate our groups. If you are interested in “convening” a topic, simply write your topic on a Group List, and write your name down as the Convener. Anyone wishing to join your group will write their name on the list. Groups will be able to meet in most of the conference rooms by simply pulling together a circle of chairs.

At 3:45, everyone will break off into their selected groups. During the group discussion, the convener or someone else in the group will serve as the recorder, taking notes on the discussion and recommendations from the small group.
When the group is finished talking, the convener or recorder will enter the information into one of the computers available. All conference participants will then be able to access the discussions here--just click on the link above.
